The history of RIWAX

Since 1967, RIWAX has stood for high-quality cleaning and care products from Switzerland. At our headquarters in Zollikofen near Bern, we develop and produce innovative solutions for vehicles, marine applications, aviation, and industry. What began as a small company has grown into an internationally operating company. Our history is characterized by Swiss quality, technical expertise, and sustainable progress.

1967

The founding of Riwax Chemie AG by Walter & Fritz Rhyner on Bahnhofstrasse in Zollikofen

1980

New construction of the company building on Tannholzstrasse in Zollikofen

1991

Expansion of the buildings with generous storage areas

1992

Start of the first export partnership with Sistar in Italy

1992

Establishment of Riwax Nederland B.V. as majority shareholder

1997

Lorenz Harzenmoser acquires 100 shares % of the stock of RIWAX Chemie AG. The workforce consists of 20 employees

1999

Acquisition of the Munichbuchsee tank storage facility with a storage capacity of eight million liters

2005

ISO certification according to ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management). The number of employees increases to 40

2009

Full acquisition of Riwax Nederland B.V.

2011

Investment in production and bottling capacities through a further building unit

2012

Construction of the training center for customer and employee development

2016

Acquisition and operation of the Friwash washing plant in Ittigen

2025

Introduction of further sustainability measures and publication of the first sustainability report. The workforce grows to 80 employees

Exclusive partnership with the Altac Coating Group, which has newly become the general importer for the distribution of Riwax products in the Benelux region, together with the company Riwax Benelux
